I am a professionally qualified, experienced psychotherapist based in Castlebar working at Castlebar Gestalt Counselling. I work with adults over the age of 18. My practice is centrally located within easy walking distance of the centre of the town. I trained with the Gestalt Institute of Ireland and I am a accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrated Psychotherapy (IAHIP). I hold a Masters and Postgraduate Diploma in Gestalt Therapy and a Degree in Personal Management.
I have a wide range of experience working with individuals, groups and teams and I draw from this in working creatively with clients. I am an experienced facilitator, Psychotherapist and HR Manager. I have previous experience working with clients in Boyle Family Resource Centre as a volunteer Psychotherapist and in Tacu Family Resource Centre in Ballinrobe, Co Mayo. I also work as a trained Rainbow facilitator in The Family Centre, Castlebar, Co Mayo
I work from a holistic person centered method following the client’s lead. The Gestalt approach to counselling is grounded in the here-and-now. This means that what is affecting you in your life now in the therapy room, in your relationships and the impact of past/ childhood experiences in the here and now is what is given precedence.
I worked for over 25 years in the retail sector having worked in HR, Training and Development before embarking on a life changing career in Counselling. I bring all of my experience to my practice. Working with clients is based on building a supportive and safe space where we can explore together the challenges you want to bring to counselling.
